Monarchy and the people

The King's audiences and his numerous travels around the country are intended to provide him with a clear picture of the situation in the Kingdom, ongoing projects and the problems, complaints, demands and hopes of the people. He then reports back to the Ministers.

The Queen and other members of the Royal Family also show a keen interest in the various sectors of society, as is underscored by their many visits around the country.

The King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family often grant favours to community groups: the title of "royal" permanent or limited High Patronage, a prize, a Royal Warrant.

In other cases, expressions of interests by the King and Queen are aimed at individuals, particularly those forwarding them petitions, celebrating jubilees or seeking the cachet of Royal godparentage.
